Rug Tufting FAQ
Find answers about custom orders, materials, care instructions, shipping, and handling for your rugs.
GENERAL QUESTIONS
1. What is rug tufting?
Rug tufting is a technique where yarn is pushed through a fabric backing using a tufting gun to create rugs or wall hangings. It's a fast and creative way to produce custom textile art.
2. Are these rugs handmade?
Yes! All rugs are handcrafted using a tufting gun, backed, and finished by hand to ensure quality and durability.
3. What materials do you use for the rugs?
We use high-quality acrylic or wool yarns (based on the rug type), a primary monk's cloth backing, adhesive for securing the fibers, and a felt or non-slip backing.
4. How long does it take to make a custom rug?
Production time varies based on size and complexity but typically ranges from 2 to 4 weeks.
CUSTOM ORDERS
5. Can I request a custom design?
Absolutely! We love bringing your ideas to life. You can submit a design or describe your vision through our custom order form.
6. Is there a limit to the size or shape of a custom rug?
We can accommodate most sizes up to \[insert max dimensions]. Shapes are flexible—round, square, abstract—just ask!
7. How much does a custom rug cost?
Prices depend on size, detail, and yarn type. Custom rugs typically start at $\[insert price] and go up based on complexity. We offer quotes before beginning any custom project.
8. Do I get to approve the design before it’s made?
Yes. We provide a digital mock-up or sketch for approval before tufting begins.
SHIPPING & RETURNS
9. Where do you ship?
We currently ship nationwide only. Shipping costs will be calculated at checkout.
10. Do you accept returns or exchanges?
Because each rug is handmade, we do not accept returns or exchanges unless the item arrives damaged or defective. Please review your custom design carefully before approving.
11. My rug arrived damaged—what should I do?
We’re so sorry! Please contact us within 48 hours of delivery with photos of the damage so we can assist you promptly.
TUFTED RUG CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Tufted rugs are handmade textile pieces that require a little TLC to stay beautiful and last for years. Follow these care instructions to protect your investment and keep your rug in great condition.
Basic Cleaning & Maintenance
1. Vacuum Regularly (Gently!)
Use a handheld or upholstery vacuum without a rotating brush (beater bar) to avoid pulling the yarn.
Vacuum in the direction of the yarn pile.
Do not press down hard—use light pressure to remove dust and debris.
2. Shake It Out
For small rugs, gently shake outdoors to release dust and dirt particles.
Avoid beating or aggressively snapping the rug.
3. Spot Cleaning
Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth.
Use a mild detergent mixed with cold water for stains. Gently dab—don’t rub!
Avoid harsh cleaners, bleach, or soaking the rug.
Deep Cleaning (Occasional)
1. Hand Clean Only
Never machine wash or submerge your rug.
For a deeper clean, gently sponge the surface with water and a mild soap mixture.
Pat dry with towels and lay flat to air dry completely—keep out of direct sunlight to avoid fading.
2. Professional Cleaning
If needed, consult a professional rug or upholstery cleaner with experience in handmade or tufted textiles.
Mention that the rug is glue-backed and should not be steam-cleaned or soaked.
What to Avoid
No machine washing or drying
No soaking or submerging
No steam cleaning
No bleach or harsh chemicals
No outdoor prolonged exposure (unless specified for outdoor use)
Storage Tips
Roll (do not fold) the rug with the front side facing outward.
Store in a cool, dry place.
Avoid damp or humid environments that may affect the glue backing.
If long-term storing, wrap in a cotton sheet or breathable fabric (avoid plastic).
Hanging as Wall Art
Use a hanging sleeve, rod, or Velcro strips (we can install on request).
Avoid nails or clips that may stretch or damage the rug fabric.
Special Notes on Shedding & Pilling
Light shedding or fuzzing is natural with handmade tufted rugs and should reduce over time.
Use a fabric shaver or lint roller gently if pilling occurs.
Extra Care Tips
Rotate your rug occasionally to prevent uneven wear or fading.
Avoid placing heavy furniture directly on top of your tufted rug.
If used as a bath mat or near moisture, allow to dry completely between uses to prevent mildew.
